6/26/09 Citi Field
This was the second installment of the 2009 seasons rivalry with the New York Mets and New York Yankees. I decided to not include ballhawking during my trip to Citi Field on this night, as my girlfriend, PJ, accompanied me and we decided to get a bite to eat at Shake Shack and chill before the game, rather than run around and get extremely sweaty in disgusting New York City humidity, which is just as bad as New Jersey's. I was tempted to transfer over to the Blue Smoke line, but after noticing a product with the likes of "Double Shack Burger" added to it, I was curious to see this "double" shack burger. After giving the associate $8.75 of my hard-earned savings, PJ and I headed over to the picnic tables located by the Shea Home Run Apple as I devoured this beaut pictured below:
I was hoping to see someone warm up in the Yankees bullpen (only because it has the closer view from that vantage point) but it never happened. After munching, we walked around to different dugout shops and Mets team stores to see some of the fancy stuff they have, including memorabilia that is "sold out everywhere" from the First Ever Game at Citi Field when the Mets took on the Red Sox, and stuff from Opening Day 2009.
It was at least twenty minutes later when the Grounds Crew came out and covered the field with the tarp. Although, ten minutes after that, the rain that was expected to downpour over Citi Field had arrived. PJ and I decided to take cover underneath the Promenade (upper) deck awning, but was soon told by security to come down and remain inside the concourse with the tons of people who were sitting everywhere, including all the way down the steps on every level down to the Field Level.
This message was posted on the box score screen for a good hour before the tarp was taken off of the field around 7:40 PM, and with the rainfall lasting less than half an hour, it wasn't THAT bad. ![]()
After the game was said to start at 8 PM, we headed toward our seats in Section 520 and watched the Mets lose terribly to the much hated crosstown rival, the New York Yankees. It was really ugly and if you don't mind, I plan to not mention the game itself from here on out. Thanks.
My next game is scheduled for July 7 at Citi Field when the LA Dodgers, the current "greatest team in baseball" comes to New York for a three game series against the Mets. I plan to ballhawk on July 7th, but the following day on July 8th, I will be sitting in the Big Apple section and not ballhawking, with the exception of game home run balls of course lol.
Are YOU going? Let me know what's good!

Enjoy the game.
